Birthday Pictures

I think Trevor had a fantastic 8th birthday. His big gift was a bicycle from his parents, grandparents and uncle. Other than that he mostly got clothes. However, I did something different for him this year. Usually I take the birthday money that he gets in the mail and spend it for him. This year I let him have his spending money, and we went to Toys R Us on his birthday. Yes, it did take us a while, but he finally ended up buying a really neat Transformer. Later we went to the Dollar Tree and he bought a few things there as well.

The bike was waiting for him in the living room that morning.

Trevor earned 50 tokens from his Sunday School teacher last month. She gives them a good-sized portion of verses to memorize monthly and he always does a good job. And what birthday is complete without a trip to Chuck E. Cheese?

Finally it was cake time! I asked Trevor what kind of cake he would like for his birthday this year. He thought for a few seconds and said, "I'd like an ice cream cake. Do you know why?" (Of course I don't know why, because I don't think it gets better than a fudge cake, with fudge frosting on top!) He told me he was going to choose an ice cream cake because Cole doesn't like cake very much. After that selfless gesture, I figured I'd get him an ice cream cake for sure. Those things are pretty spendy, so I got on the internet and found some recipes and concocted my own little cake. I think it turned out well and was a big hit!

E-I-G-H-T

Trevor is eight years old today! It hard to believe that it's been 8 years since God gave him to us. I was doing a bit of reminiscing on Trevor's birth and his first few months of life. Of course he is special because he is our first born. There's something special about bringing home that first baby. I remember him being born at 7:51 in the morning after a long night of labor. I remember what a good baby he was for us.

Trevor is going through a "spelling phase" right now. It's pretty cute and very enjoyable! Today I listened as he told my dad on the phone that he was "E-i-g-h-t today." At the dinner table he thanks me for the "F-o-o-d," and he was so excited to get a new "B-i-k-e" as well. I just love it!

Trevor is a very thankful person! Many times today he thanked us for his gifts, his meals, his outings, etc. . . . While he was on the phone with my sister he whispered to me, "What did they give me?" I told him and he promptly thanked her for the gift. I didn't even have to tell him to be thankful, he is just that kind of person. I'm so glad about that because thankfulness is a command in the Bible, and it's one that Trevor does so well.

This week Trevor got four 100%'s on the tests that he took! He is doing well in school and is a good Scripture memorizer too. We are just thankful that God gave him to us for the short time we are on earth. What a blessing!

Now the "after-he-turned-8" photograph:

The Park

We've been to a couple of parks lately. We always seem to make it around dusk time, so I don't get very good pictures of the boys playing. But they've been having a good time, so I guess that's more important than good pictures!

Pictures From Our Week

It's been a bit busy around our household lately. Trevor and David started school, which is conveniently located right next door. And Cole and I started kindergarten at home. Cole is loving school, which makes me feel happy! I am really enjoying the chance to teach him, and things are going smoothly so far. I haven't been blogging as much as usual, since things have been keeping me busy. So I'm going to try to catch up today!

That being said, here are a few random pictures from the last few weeks. Enjoy!

You gotta wonder what that pretty, little girl is dreaming about!

Look at that macho man pushing such a heavy load!

This was the best picture I could get before she got tired of posing for the camera.

I had the boys stop what they were doing on the porch so I could get a quick shot of them.

Cole's first art project at school. I know the picture of Cole isn't great, but I wanted you to see his handiwork. He drew the members of his family on the little house. Don't we look gorgeous?!?!

Cole will take any chance he gets to hold his sister Brooke.

Trevor was proud of the bubble beard he had made while he was in the shower.

We pulled the bubble machine out and Logan had a great time playing.

Blackbeard - a.k.a. Cupcake beard:

Love

David and I had the chance to sit in front of a sketch machine today and get our photo taken. It was fun, and I must say we haven't changed a bit! :)

After eleven years, marriage just gets better and sweeter!

(Chuck E. Cheese sketched those out for us today. Wasn't that nice of him?)

Kindergarten

Today was Cole's first day of kindergarten. I am homeschooling him since we do not have a kindergarten teacher for our school. I think it went well and he had a GREAT day! I'm proud of him for doing so well.

On his way to school! :)

Does It Get Any Sweeter?

**Forgive the strange camera angle. . . I was trying to get her to find my eyes and keep the camera out of the way as well.**

Ready for Church

Here's my baby, ready for church this past Sunday.

Amazing Video

This was at Living Treasures Animal Park. See the stick of wood between the fence and the cage? There is a bucket hanging on that stick. You could put food in the bucket, and the monkeys would grab the chain and pull the bucket towards them and take the food out! It was so much fun doing that. Until David did this:

Cole & Brooke

Like I've said before, Cole loves to be around his sister. (I wonder how long THAT will last?!?!) So here are some pictures of the two of them together from the last couple of days.

Thought I'd throw this one in for good measure!
