I think Trevor had a fantastic 8th birthday. His big gift was a bicycle from his parents, grandparents and uncle. Other than that he mostly got clothes. However, I did something different for him this year. Usually I take the birthday money that he gets in the mail and spend it for him. This year I let him have his spending money, and we went to Toys R Us on his birthday. Yes, it did take us a while, but he finally ended up buying a really neat Transformer. Later we went to the Dollar Tree and he bought a few things there as well.
The bike was waiting for him in the living room that morning.
Trevor earned 50 tokens from his Sunday School teacher last month. She gives them a good-sized portion of verses to memorize monthly and he always does a good job. And what birthday is complete without a trip to Chuck E. Cheese?
Finally it was cake time! I asked Trevor what kind of cake he would like for his birthday this year. He thought for a few seconds and said, "I'd like an ice cream cake. Do you know why?" (Of course I don't know why, because I don't think it gets better than a fudge cake, with fudge frosting on top!) He told me he was going to choose an ice cream cake because Cole doesn't like cake very much. After that selfless gesture, I figured I'd get him an ice cream cake for sure. Those things are pretty spendy, so I got on the internet and found some recipes and concocted my own little cake. I think it turned out well and was a big hit!
There is an Oreo cookie crust, with two different kinds of ice cream, and fudge and Kit Kats in the middle.
