Friends

Monday night we drove towards Pittsburgh to spend an evening with some college friends who live there. The Snows live in Ohio and were vacationing in western Pennsylvania. My college roommate Kat had invited them for dinner and called us to see if we'd like to join in the fun. So we piled into our van and took another road trip! (We've been doing a lot of road trips lately!)We had such a good time eating, fellowshipping, eating, playing games, and eating! (Did I mention eating?!?!)

Amy couldn't wait to see me, but Kat was just excited to see Brooke. I guess I can't really blame her, can I?

My little Brooke is trained so well to sleep in her crib. The poor thing was so tired, but just would not sleep without her own bed.
Here are the 4-year-olds: Logan Farley and Isaac Snow.

David couldn't wait to get the men-folk playing ball.
Before they got started they were doing some . . . . well, I don't know what they were doing! Talking, I guess!

Here are the college gals. We haven't changed a bit, have we?

It was fun seeing our oldest boys play basketball with their dads. All of our boys are 8 years old.
Here goes David with a good dribble.

Where Do I Begin?

It's been a little while since I've blogged. Summertime has been keeping our family busy. We've been enjoying the sunny days and time together as a family.

Earlier this week we took a trip to pick up a used transmission for our van. David had called all the nearby junk yards and nobody had what we needed! The closest place we could find a transmission was nearly 2 hours away. So we all loaded up in the truck and took a road trip that day. We had a good time together. Trevor and I sat in the front passenger side and spent the trip trying to get semi-drivers to honk at us. It was a lot of fun, and I may have been enjoying myself even more than Trevor! We got 7 honks on the way there, and 7 on the way home.

Tuesday morning David found this bat up by the church. He must've been sick or dying. Bleck! He brought it to the house for everyone to see. If you got close to the bat it would make a hissing sound. It was good education for the boys, but I'm glad that bat is gone!
The boys got to enjoy a McDonald's playground this week. This one was outdoors and had lots of room for them to run around in.

Aren't these guys cute? I just love these little men of mine.
I had planned to post more pictures, but David has the camera. So for now, this will be a short post for you. Toodle~Loo! :)

The Park

Tonight we drove a ways to go to a neat park in another town. The boys were really excited about going there. These monkey bars are just Logan's size.
About five minutes after we got there it started to rain!
We took shelter under a few little roofs in the park. . .
. . . . but the rain blew in on us anyway!
After the rain let up a bit, we told the boys to go have fun!
And they did!

Brooke and I took shelter in the truck.
When the thunder started Logan joined us.

She's ready to hit the road soon.
That little face is so cute!
She was mighty happy to be in control.

Easy Night

I had an easy night at home last night. David took the older boys to an activity so it was just Logan, Brooke and myself at home. It gave me a taste of what it will be like when school starts in the fall.

I was able to get Brooke's hair into one little pig tail. Can you see it?

I must confess that I enjoyed the time that I got to spend with Logan one-on-one. He spent quite a while talking to me on his cell! ;-)
Cheesy grin
Another picture of the piggy!
After dinner I let Logan paint a little wooden lizard. The older boys painted theirs last year sometime, so this was the perfect chance for Logan to enjoy painting.

Bowling

Yesterday we took advantage of free bowling. In the summer you can sign your kids up to get two free games of bowling per day! We just had to pay for the shoe rental. The kids had a good time.

The Crew
The ball is almost heavier than Logan!
It seriously took *forever* for Logan's bowling balls to make it down the alley!
Brooke did so well sitting in the chair at the table.

Memorial Day

On Memorial Day we spent some time teaching the boys what that holiday is all about. We went to The Wall That Heals memorial in Altoona for a while. We brought some flowers for the boys to place by the wall.
Trevor was reading some of the names on that wall. There are so many.
Can you tell that Brooke was NOT happy in that stroller?

You can really see your reflection in this wall.
This book lists all the names that are on that wall. How sad! There were about 763 pages and we counted 75 names on each page.
This little darling is too cute not to photograph!

As you can see, Daddy was a softie and carried her. She already has him wrapped around her finger.

On the way back to the truck the boys had some fun with the stroller.

Homestead Blessings

I stumbled upon a new blog today. It's called Raising Homemakers. Their philosophy is "inspiring, teaching and blessing mothers who have an interest in raising their daughter in godliness and preparing them in the arts of homemaking to the glory of God." You don't see that philosophy much anymore! I haven't seen everything on this blog, but so far it looks like a promising one to read.

They are also having a lot of giveaways that may be of interest to you. The Homestead Blessings giveaway seemed especially fun and interesting, so I thought I'd post about it. Besides, by posting this on my blog, I get an extra entry in their drawing! :)
